The National Association of Centers for Excellence - CEX has recognized seven Spanish organizations in the national phase of the Quality Innovation Award, QIA 2020, a competition created in 2007 by Excellence Finland to promote innovative projects in companies and organizations, share experiences and give local and international recognition to the best, with the ultimate goal of increasing the competitiveness of companies and participating countries.

There are eight categories in the competition: Potential innovations, Innovations in circular economy and zero carbon footprint, Innovations in the healthcare sector, Innovations in the education sector, Innovations in the public sector, Innovations in companies (Micro & startup), Innovations in companies (SMEs), and Business Innovations (Large).

The candidate companies developed a quality innovation, an innovation that had to fulfill five characteristics to be highlighted: novelty, usefulness, learning, customer orientation and effectiveness. Resulting in Molecor being awarded the QIA 2020 Award in the category of Potential Innovations, for the development of the quality innovation "M-OR-P 5012 technology, manufacturing of Oriented PVC pipes (PVC-O) of large diameter DN500-DN1200 mm".

It is the fourth time that Spain has participated in the QIA Awards thanks to the incorporation in 2017 of the National Association of Centers for Excellence-CEX to the organizing committee of the awards, of which form part, in addition to Spain, organizations promoting the quality, excellence and innovation from Finland, Estonia, Hungary, Israel, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Latvia, Czech Republic, Russia, Sweden, China, Thailand, Botswana, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe.

The winning companies in this national phase go on to the international phase where the jury made up of the different participating countries chooses the winners in each category of the Quality Innovation Award. An international competition whose objective is to promote innovative projects in companies and organizations, compare themselves, and give local and international recognition to the most outstanding projects.

Molecor, as a company awarded the QIA 2020 Award in the category of Potential Innovations, passes to the international phase with the candidacy of the quality innovation "M-OR-P 5012 technology for manufacturing large diameter Oriented PVC (PVC-O) pipes DN500- DN1200)".
