General
The air cooled chillers EWWFD are equipped with semi-hermetic screw compressors of great capacity and high operating ranges. They are cappable of working both in open circuit and closed.
This units are designed to be installed in an engine room. Thanks to its optimized emissions and to its quality optionals it intends to reduce sound emissions, whether they are equipped with acoustic insulation or not.
Prepared to operate with 134a refrigerant, this units offer a particularly high COP.
The SWS units consist of two independent refrigerant circuits with one semi-hermetic double screw compressor each circuit. They are equipped with evaporator and two condensers, all shell and tube type. This serie has the option of being supplied without compressors, with shut-off valves on the discharge and liquid lines to allow users to connect remote compressors. This units are called EWWFD CR.
The EWWFD are available in 3 versions. Each one composed of 15 sizes, covering a nominal cooling capacity range from 272 to 1118 kW.
- STD: standard unit without any acoustic insulation.
- SI: low noise version (Silent) with the same equipment as the standard version STD, but finished with a sheet metal coating which reduces noise emissions. This coating can be supplied as a kit to be installed in the working area, or factory-fitted.
- SS: This version (Super Silent) has the same equipment as the SI version adding an acoustic insulating material layer over the sheet. Moreover, there are mufflers and flexible pipes mounted on the compressor discharge line to achieve a higher noise reduction.

Structure
The unit frame and cabinet are made of heavy gauge galvanized steel, fastened with screws and bolts. The galvanized steel parts are coated with oven white colour (RAL 9001) painting.

Semi-hermetic screw compressors
All compressors are fitted with an electronic control system ensuring the following functions:
- Protection against high temperature and excessive load
- Correct direction of rotation
- Phase monitoring.
The main features of cooling capacity control of each compressor are stated below :
- Compressor capacity reduction by means of solenoid valves
- Capacity reduction steps relating to each compressor : 25% (at start-up and pump down), 50%, 75% and 100%
- 6 capacity steps provided on each unit: 25%, 50%,63%, 75%, 87% and 100%.
Furthermore, the screw compressors are provided with control devices to make the EWWFD units more reliable :
- Electric motor temperature sensor
- Discharge temperature sensor.
- Liquid injection (optional)

Evaporator/Condensers
The evaporator and the condensers are shell and tube type. The evaporator consists on a double circuit and it is insulated with 19 mm foam.
The condensers are equipped with removable heads that allow the condenser pipes to be removed for maintenance operations.

Refrigerant circuit
Each units contains two independent refrigerant circuits with the corresponding components.

Electrical board
The electrical board is a metal box of IP 42 weather protection, arranged outside the unit and protected by one or two access panels depending on the models.
